Memento | June 2013 - October 2013
Blind Horizon Studios
Memento is a fast-paced runner game that ends each episode with the hefty decision to take someone's life. You are Officer Layla Greene, a newbie at the precinct, with little to no knowledge of how tough being part of the police force can be. Chasing bad guys is easy, but making the choice to pull the trigger can have dire consequences. Memento is not about having enough ammunition or taking out all of your enemies before the time runs out; this state-of-the-art interactive experience grabs the player by the heartstrings for an emotional journey that leaves the player questioning the morals of other shooter games. Memento was submitted to the Independent Games Festival 2014 and to the RPI Gamefest 2014.
My Role
For this project, I was mostly the lead artist, with some game design involved. I was in charge of designing the entire aesthetic of the game. I went with a graphic novel-esque look and feel, with splashes of color that indicates importance. I created the animated main character for Memento.
I was also in charge of character design, which is something I really enjoy doing. I designed the two characters used in Memento.
Layla Greene - Main character
Sebastian Locke - Partner; started as an alternate main character concept
