About Blind Horizon Studios
Blind Horizon Studios (BHS) was formed in May 2012, but our story started in December 2011 at the Microsoft ImagineCup 2011 game jam. This team of four RIT students sat down for a weekend and created Us Saving Billions (U.S.B.), a game about the difficulties involved in running an energy conglomerate. U.S.B. won the award for Most Creative game at ths event, which was the start of a future as a team.
We then took U.S.B. to the MassDigi Game Challenge later that year, and won Best Serious Game. Our prize was a grant for legal fees, such that we could incorporate the company, as well as a team of interns that would produce and polish a more finalized form of U.S.B. over the summer, which then became Energy Drive.
After about ten months of production, we finally decided to be done with Energy Drive. But not before we took it to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute GameFest in 2013. We won the award for Excellence in Concept from Vicarious Visions. Eventually, we signed Energy Drive over to MassDigi under a contract of production so that in the future, they can hopefully use the game as a teaching tool in schools.
Thus, Blind Horizon Studios was formed. The team includes:
David Simkins - Advisor
Dustin Kochensparger - President, Producer
Blake Gross - Vice President, Lead Programmer
Amanda Imperial - Secretary, Artist
Torey Scheer - Programmer
Matthew DeNovio - Programmer
