Hello! My name is Amanda.

Who Am I?

I'm a passionate game designer that likes to do all sorts of things. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Game Design and Development, and a minor in Psychology, from Rochester Institute of Technology. I love to work with a team in making the next novel idea for games, or improve how people use everyday technologies. I'm a rugger that refuses to quit. I am a California girl in a cold state and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I am also a huge fan of Star Wars. Obviously, I side with the Empire. (My last name. I'm not evil.)

What Do I Do?

My life and my love is games. I'm primarily a designer; the brainstorming and game design process is where I have the most fun working, next to showing off the game to excitable fans. Nothing feels better than seeing the pleased faces of your audience. When I'm not designing games, I am at the core of the art team. I'm used to working alone, but I also love working with others. Recently, I've found myself looking into UI/UX design and development, and I believe this is where I want to specialize my skills.

When I'm not working on projects for school, you can find me working on game projects outside of the classroom. Since my second year of college, I have always found ways to get involved in something just for the fun of it. I went to many game jams, won awards for the games I worked on, and even helped start a company that made educational games. Blind Horizon Studios was the best experience I could have ever imagined I'd have in college. Traveling to different events, spending weekends eating junk food and consuming energy drinks, and making cool games in only two days with my best friends. While my team has long since graduated, I'm still around and still working on games.

In my leisure time, I try to keep up with the latest trends in gaming and write articles for Electronic Gaming Federation.

Where Am I Going?

I've started graduate school at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. I am studying Digital Communication and Media Arts, with a focus on visual design. While at DePaul, I hope to be working at a job that will put me even closer to my career working in the technical industry.
